I’m Lucy — I grew up on a farm in rural Australia. As a kid I would tear through
craft books, I built treehouses, sewed my own clothes, and splashed paint all
over the place. I moved to Sydney for high school and continued with painting
and fashion design.
I studied a Bachelor of Design at UNSW’s College of Fine Arts. I majored
in Graphics & Media, and my honors thesis explored the impact of idealized
imagery in women’s advertising on women’s health.
After graduating I joined Coco Republic as their marketing designer and lead
stylist. In 2015 I moved to New York and joined Hinge. I learnt how to design
and develop mobile products, and experienced what it’s like to really love my
work. I helped Hinge pivot away from the swiping interface, we introduced
innovations like prompts and the liking/commenting UX. I then built out and led
the design team.
In 2019 I left Hinge to take some time off to travel and recharge. I spent time
consulting at a few early-stage start-ups including Geneva and Lex, and I
joined the On Deck fellowship.
In 2020 I founded Sunroom — a platform that helps women to earn from their
online communities. Sunroom is now home to thousands of women who have
generated millions in earnings, across our iOS, Android, and web apps.
Outside of running Sunroom you'll find me at hot yoga class, on house/techno
dance floors, listening to business podcasts, embroidering something, or
hosting my friends at a dinner party.
I'm a visual thinker, a community seeker, and a life-long builder.
